Information systems enable people to access the information they need, to collaborate, and to conduct their jobs and personal activities effectively. Information systems are the heart of our internet-based economy. IS professionals design computing systems that provide information to support decision making of individuals and organizations. They serve as the critical link between the technical areas and all other areas of organizations. Information systems are used everywhere, including business, health care, science, government, community and personal life.
For the student who wishes to have a strong foundation in information systems, but with more opportunity for elective choices and with slightly fewer technical requirements, the Department of Information Systems offers the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Information Systems.
