Systems Design and Information Management
This area is centered on the design, integration and management of systems in order to meet organizational needs. Examples of such systems include Digital Libraries, Emergency Preparedness and Response Systems, and Decision Support systems. Our work to construct and evaluate these systems involves core applied computing methodologies from the fields of Information Systems and Technology. Maintaining strength in these core areas--with their strong ties to practice--enables and strengthens all our curricula. While all Information Systems programs include work in this area, we are distinguished from other programs in the region that often are located in schools of business by the strong technical skills of our students in programming, data bases, and telecommunications networks, sufficient to enable our graduates to implement systems as well as design, study and manage them.
