Human-Computer Interaction

The area of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) concerns the design of computer systems in order to maximize their usability and positive impacts. New technologies continue to help shape how humans interact with each other and with computer systems, thus creating a steady flow of challenging research and educational issues. An area of special emphasis within HCI at NJIT is Pervasive/ Ubiquitous Information Systems. These systems employ embedded or highly mobile devices that can be used "anywhere, anytime" to support both social and work-related tasks. Further growth in this area will help establish our department's reputation as the leading provider of HCI education and research in the metropolitan area.
