This area involves the design and evaluation of systems that support groups and communities through knowledge-building and the accumulation of collective intelligence. Our work involving such "Groupware" systems is nationally and internationally recognized, with hundreds of publications and several true leaders in the field. Other endeavors by IS faculty, in areas such as Computer-Mediated Communications, Computer-Supported Collaborative Work, Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning and Group Decision Support Systems, complement our work in this area. Maintaining our expertise in this area will enable us to provide competitive advantage to our students.
